  1. I like taking pics of scenes, such as views, and cool looking shit. what kind of camera would be decent?

i have a canon powershot a520. that's all i take pictures of is cool shit and scenes and overall things that inspire me. full auto mode can lack color depth and sometimes the white balance is way off. but it has manual mode and various partially-manual modes with which you can get some really good pictures. it's a little grainy at 400iso, but if you shoot with 50 or 100iso mode, it's clean and crisp. id' recommend it for an occaisional shooter.

if you want to see some photos i've taken with it, let me know.

Wait for the Nikon D40 to come out. Sounds perfect for you.

I borrowed my friend's s5200 and the delay nearly makes the camera unusable. My son was walking outside, full sunlight, very bright...I pushed the button and he was in the center of the LCD viewer. I looked at the picture later and he's nearly off the screen in half the pictures.

I was very unimpressed with that camera.

I had a Z1 and recently sold it. I wish I kept it. It took extremely good pictures in most situations. I'd highly recommend any of the dimage Z-line cameras.
