I had the gf and a guest (15 yr old French girl :hsugh:) out at the public range yesterday. I'll post photos of that later, in another thread.

One of the other shooters there was a young guy like myself who had a small armory along with him. He had a brand new Stag Arms AR he was breaking in, a 10/22, a Ruger .22LR handgun, a Springfield XD (sub-compact 9mm), and a Glock G36. After my cluster of people were done shooting, I offered him to run through a mag on the WASR, since he was inquiring about it earlier. He immediately offered to let me try his two handguns.

I was already eyeballing an XD before this random opportunity, but once I got my hands on one, I got even more interested. I love the feel of that firearm. I think I will have to take an indoor range trip with the gf to give that one some more extended testing.

The G36 surprised me in that it felt too small and would stovepipe every time I wasn't locking it in place with my arms. I have small hands, but that thing felt awkwardly small in my grip.

This hobby just keeps getting more expensive. :o

    Pics in post 25.

First, how did the french girl get in there???
Second, you need to wear a flame suit if you liked XD more than Glock around here. :mamoru:

Anyway sounds like you had fun, it's always great to try out other people's toy.

The French girl is aoreign exchange student, basically. My gf and I had her with us for the day. She'd never fired anything more than the stupid BB guns at carnivals, and showed interest in shooting real firearms. She seemed to enjoy herself, and turned out to be a decent shot. We sent her home with a few of her targets, a .22LR casing, and a 5.45x39 casing. :bigthumb:

Cool 15 year old french chick http://youtube.com/watch?v=Bdb030z5rbQ

I think she's older now. She shoots pretty good, hopefully she learned how to run and hold the gun. She was the top french ipsc chick at the time.

They seem to have good ipsc matches in France. I've seen a few videos. I like the stages at 1:42. No way we'd get to do that nowadays state side due to liability.

Didn't even have time to get them off the camera yesterday. It was midnight by the time we took the girl home.

The 36 is pretty commonly known as the dud of the Glock family.

    Stick with the mid (G19, G23, G32) or full sizes (G17, G22, G31)

yeah, been following Laeitica for a little bit, looks like she could be a hottie, or future hottie. She's the IPSC triple crown champion that used to run a glock. But she dropped the Glock to shoot a CZ, which is the dominant pistol over there and pretty much through out Europe. The CZ and EAA hold 19 x 9mm and can be tuned with an awesome trigger, so it's a no brainer.

A large majority of shooters here in Area 1 have dropped the Glock for the CZ this year, and all of our GM's are now shooting the CZ pistol in Production. And I'm starting to see more EAA's in Limited.

    More Maggie, nudes?

Yeah CZ really did something with that SP01 cheater production gun. Especially in international ipsc where you can use the full capacity of the magazine. Serious advantage.

Here state side being able to use that extended magazine with the SP01 psudo mawell is also a big advantage. Those production guys have to do a bazillon reloads.

As far as limited classes I don't know. The CZ's just don't have the capacity. 18+1 vrs 20+1 (40 s&w)

I always did like the CZ. It's the standard gun I recomend if somebody does not want a glock. It's slim and ergonomic grip make it great for females or people with small hands. The angle is between a glock and a 1911 and both camps seem to be able to shoot it. Only weak point of the CZ is that it slide lock pin. That is a 5000 round life part. Unlike Springfield CZ USA will sell the part or replace the part without you sending your whole gun in. I got a few extra sitting in my spare parts box.

Generally stock sights on production handguns suck.

I came home and had the sudden revelation that I needed to go to the hardware store.

I bought some channel-lock pliers and some 00 buckshot. :bigthumb:

For having never handled firearms before that day, she was actually a decent shot (sorry for the blur, old camera and the gf is fail at taking pictures)

My first time ever firing a semi-auto. I really need someone to teach me some basic shooting techniques, because I didn't have a fucking clue what was right or wrong.

Regardless, that was a fun range trip, not a technical one. :bigthumb:
