Rudy project has Rx inserts, in the RB3 and the rydon's I believe. They probably have new ones out but I've been out of the loop for a while now.

Polycarb lenses are usually "safety rated", however most daily frames are definitely NOT. Take a good hit on the lense and it is going to be driven right out of the frame. Also, most daily wear frames & lenses don't really offer good coverage, especially on the sides.

Pimpest option would be Rudy Projects with their DirectRx ballistic lenses. Very comfortable and lightweight, great optical quality... but big $$$ and Rudy Project does not warrant their Rx lenses.

Next best would be the Rudy's with their Rx inserts. The Rx sits behind the safety lenses. The outer lenses take all the abuse, and are cheap to replace if they get scratched, or if you want to have multiple colors. Have double lenses however obviously adds weight, and looking through two sets of lenses adds some optical distortion. These can still be pretty expensive, by the time you by the frames with safety lenses, plus the insert, plus having your Rx filled in the insert.

A cheaper version of the above is the ESS ICE or similar system, which is what I use. The outer lenses are more like traditional safety glasses, and the Rx insert rides behind the outer lenses just like with the Rudy's. They are just significantly bulkier and way less "stylish" but offer great protection. The base set of ICE shields comes with three lense colors (clear, dark tinted, and yellow) and they are really easy to change. I've never used the yellow tints, but I switch between the dark and clear all the time.

I would love to get Rudy's with DirectRx, but until they offer some type of warrantly or pro-rated cost on Rx replacements I can't just spending that kind of money on shooting glasses. My ESS shields have been scratched marred by lead splatter, they are $20 to replace... Rudy Rx lenses would $200 to replace.

Whever I need to update my prescription, I get two pair of glasses. One clear-lense z87.1 (I even order clip-on side shields for them) and regular glasses, with the "photogrey". The clear glasses are what I use for hunting and shooting, and the other ones are just for being out n about.

i don't trust regular glasses for shooting or reloading, too much "open space" around the eyes

the ones where you can drop the RX Inserts in there sound pretty solid and worth taking a look at

    you're lucky then :hs:

I have horrible eye sight, but I get PRK april 10th. I can't wait to shoot without having to worry about my contacts fucking up. Shit especially sucks if you shoot a SAW, the gas gets in your eyes like a mug.
