I always used newsbin in comination with newzbin.com to check for content but since recently my ISP wont allow me to download headers anymore :(. Altough it was rather slow downloading 4 mil headers on big groups It didnt really matter for me. So now I am looking for good alternatives for it?

Already tried newsleecher altough it works ok the problem is you need to register it after * days and until then you can only DL with 1Mbit max, and alot of times I get the msg cannot connect to supersearch server. And I dont really feal like paying for the programm and then weekly for the search engine plus I dont pref to pay with CC online.

So anyone know any good alternatives

GrabIt is the best free newsgroup program for downloading binaries that I know of.

If your ISP is blocking header downloads, how will switching to another newsreader help?

I just looked into Mozilla Thunderbird the other day, and like it a lot. I also use it for IMAP email already, and it works great.

I'm using a free beta of newsleecher because...of a reason, but NZB-o-matic is supposed to be good

i use newsbin and it's great. you should look into getting better access instead of using your ISP. I pay $20 for 60gb access at 3mb/s. changing newsreaders is not gonna solve your problem of downloading headers.

I can download the files just not the headers so I need something that searches the groups for me.

Just installed works great, no need to DL headers due to the search :)

The news servers from my ISP are pretty good, I get unlimited access (had moments where I did 150GB in 3 days or 500GB in a month without any problems) and the retention is pretty good ~11 days they recently capped the speed to 6mbit though, I am currently on 8mbit but doesnt matter that much might check into payed newsgroups when I swap connection (waiting for DSL 2 to be implented should come this or next month (24mbit!). But looking what you are paying for 60GB and 3mbit I doubt it will be worth it.

havent checked any of the other program's as of yet will try them as well and choose one I like best, thx for all the sugestions :)

    :werd: I love Thunderbird.

However, it's not great for downloading binaries.

sort of a follow-up for the normal DSL as it is currently implemented here (theoretic max 24/3 mbit instead of 8mbit/1*mbit). Already several company's advertising with it

that newshosting.com looks good btw, If en when I change connec I will def look in to it, what speeds do you generally get with them?

I haven't tried much, Pan is perfectly good for downloading binaries so I just use that.
