I have heard that this exercise sent Bruce Lee to the hopsital. Now if it's so bad for you, why is it continued to be recommended?

GMs are one of those exercises that everyone recommends that you do, but no one recommends that you do to the limit.

Couldn't you just do GM's in the powerrack with the pins set fairly high just in case...?

I just stick to a weight well within my limits and watch my form. Its really not that bad, especially in christophers routine where you're doing them for sets of 12

Arched back GM's are one of my primary ME day movements... I usually work down to 3RM.

I've seen the chain suspended version talked about alot... why not just do it off the pins at the same height?

 so because two people got hurt doing an exercise, everyone should avoid doing them?

how many hundreds, or even thousands, of people have hurt themselves benching, squatting, doing pushups, swimming, etc, etc, etc?

Marc David and Bruce Lee are retards.... don't be like them.

actually louie simmons broke his 5th vertabrae doing gm's so I guess he is a retard?

the poblem is that people bastardize what is essentially good gm form because they are doing them as an ME exercise and don't understand that you CANNOT load the spine like that and then go from arched to rounded or vice versa....if you know this and can keep your arch (chain suspended attempts are notorious for causing herniated discs because of people losing their arch right out of the hole) it is not that dangerous of an exercise.

I stopped doing them because I just didn't feel comfortable with the movement. I figured unless I had a real coach showing me the proper way to do it I was better off not risking fucking something up.
