I'm worried I will over balance and something painful will happen, so I'm get worried about going to high.

Also they make my shoulders /neck kinda sore.

On a side note, when people refer to dumbells weight, is it usually per dumbell or combined?

i do them in power racks so i can put the safety bars just under my target depth. if its too heavy i can just chuck it off.

I agree, the exercise just feels kinda scary. I don't feel like I am going to fall over, I am just concerned about what would happen if I did.

This is always one of my concerns. I have looked at a few examples of the exercise, and read up on it. It happens only during the exercise, perhaps due to the bar slipping forward.

The bar should be resting on my shoulders, right ?

I kinda do a butt-back move like the beginning of a squat before I bring my body down parallel to the ground, I feel real stable that way. I am repping 135 on em now :dunno:
