I finally got the insurance money for some of the stuff I lost in Katrina.

I'm going to take a lot of the money I got for other stuff and put it all into the M1 to make it a really nice shooter.

Has anyone had any experience with anyone they can recommend or seen the work of some of the gunsmiths?

It needs a new stock and I'm also going to have the rifle rebarreled. I'm going to talk to whoever does to work to see what it'll take to get maybe a MOA rifle or very close to that. 2" at 100 would make me happy though.

Anyone seen on of their rifles? Thinking of going with them. I LOVE the look of the Bastogne Hybride Walnut.

You'd just keep it the orignal wood?

I plan to make this one a nice shooter and save up and get a nice, low number M1 Garand as my "collector" WWII one.

have them make you a nat'l match "peerless grade" off your receiver. shoot it in the garand matches at palo alto.

I just dont care for the shiney-ass finish of the wood nor the figure of the wood itself. If you like it go for it :dunno:

You can pick between a couple finishes on the wood itself. I don't really want a laquered look finish. I'd ask them about it when I ordered.

I like the grain look in the wood though. I like the Stocks DGR offers but like what Fulton Armory offers in their peerless rifle. I don' think I could afford a DGR stock and a fulton rifle.

CMP is selling brand new M1 Garand stocks for something like $115 on their website.

Fulton Armory would be able to do anything you need as far as gunsmithing on your Garand goes.

Yeah, because that really compares with the stocks I've been looking at.

Dean's Gun's is by far the best M1 Garand smith out there. Their work is beautiful and their service is top notch.

I have one of thoese CMP stocks and am quite pleased with it. It's a Boyd's stock that has been worked over by Dupage trading. Overall it's pretty nice, the only bad thing is that the CMP cartouche is a little light.

What I was looking to hear

The only thing I like about Fulton is this part:
    "# Guaranteed UNDER 1 MOA!"

And DGR only has this under their Match Grade Rifles:
" DGR guarantees the rifle will function"

Bullshit I just spent $1600 with you it better Function... Better shoot MOA too.

I wonder what they guarantee their Match Rifle rebuilds to shoot. Also wonder what parts I have can be reused and which will need to be replaced.

Dean E-mailed me back and said his Match Grades shoot 1.5" w/ the standard barrel he offers and will shoot 1" or less with the Krieger.

Just ordered a box from Fulton and as soon as it gets here, I think it's being sent to him.

Who can I ship a rifle through easily? I don't want to deal with UPS so I guess that leaves only FedEx?

I'll check them out. They got an office easy to get to.

I'll insure it for a good bit and hopefully it gets lost... then I'll just buy a Peerless grade from Fulton :mamoru:
