Can anybody recommend a good laptop under $1200?
    Features I want:

    -at least 80GB HDD
    -DVD-Rom + CD-RW is a must, DVD-RW is preferred
    -512MB ram is a must, 1GB is required, 2GB is a plus
    -Runs XP Pro or MCE
    -Integrated WiFi

    Preferrably something that looks good?
    Let me know guys. Thanks.

How about a Macbook? They're cheap, but very borderline to your budget... Other than that I'd recommend a toshiba, or a sony.

You can customize a toshiba satellite u200 for $1227 with:

    core 2 duo 1.6ghz
    xp pro
    1gb mem
    12" screen :(
    80gb drive
    wi-fi + bluetooth

I'll see if I pull up anything else. If you're willing to, look up compaq and HP.

No way, I'd go with Asus. They are the people that make most of the laptops for the "Big Guys" like Delll, Gateway, HP, etc... however you're just cutting out the middleman.

An example @ Newegg for 1100

    Windows XP Home
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHz
    14" WXGA
    1GB DDR2
    100GB
    DVD±R/RW
    Intel GMA950
    shared memory
    Communication
    Modem, Gigabit LAN and WLAN
    5.25 lbs.
    Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology
    667MHz
    2MB

Newegg rocks the house with tech buys. I'd get it from them. They have a ton of different computers from Asus, just look around!
