About a year ago I started Deadlifting. Never had really done it before.

Anyway almost a year ago exactly I was doing reps of 6 at maybe 215, probably closer to 200.

As of 2 days ago my sets went like this.

    1st 1x6 = 305
    2nd 1x6 = 315
    3rd 1x6 = 325
    4th 1x6 = 325
    5th 1x3 = 415

Does that sound about right or should I be doing a bit better?

    Straps or no straps?

Definitely straps. Broke my right hand about 3 years ago @ boxing practice/training, it's never been the same.

using straps seems like it would hurt you hand worse.

good progress though, but we all know strapped lifts dont count

    :wtc:

I tried for a long time not to lift with straps but I found out it's when I grip shit too hard. If I do grip it to hard, or even bump the right of the back side of my hand just right, it sends this shooting pain about half way up my arm and through my finger tips. Irritates me... I can do it without them, it just sucks and I'm worried I might drop the weight if I happen to get one of those "pain shots".

if straps take away the pain use them.

that's good improvement just keep working at it. Are you starting your sets at 300lbs with no warmup?

No, I always do like 2 sets of 15 at like 135 (warm up lats/back too) , then stretch for like 10 minutes, then go into the heavy stuff.
