I am looking to buy an external harddrive to back up all the files on my laptop(ibm T40) and was wondering what a good brand would be. I dont need anything really nice, just reliable b/c im only going to transfer all my music/photos/documents on it and leave it at home while i go study abroad for a semester.

I looked through some threads and it seems people like Seagate and Western Digital. I was wondering what you guys thought would best suit my needs.

I think the cheapest route would be to find a WD or Seagate hard drive on sale somewhere and then pick up a USB external (3.5" since the drives are cheaper) hard drive enclosure for around $30.

Also, if anyone could reply quickly, like people who usually read stuff but dont post like me, that would be great. B/c i leave wednesday afternoon for london and i need to get this shit backed up before i leave so i need to order today. Also how long would backing up 60gigs of music, photos, and docs take?

I'd say go for a little bigger drive..

You can never have too much storage space, IMO :dunno:

If you need a 2.5" enclosure, I have an extra one.

Used it once to back up a hard drive before I shipped my laptop away for a warranty repair. Worked great, but now I have no need for it. Comes with case, cable, even the box! :)

150+ ebay, 100% pos. I'll beat any NewEgg price on it. How 'bout $12 shipped? PM me.

    /shameless advert.
