I think I am going for my CCW permit here in CA and am looking for a new handgun to carry. I am getting word from a Sageant tomorrow if I will pretty much get one for sure. Plus I live in Kern County which is definately shall issue

I have a P226 now but no way do I plan on carrying that. I do plan on using the CCW as a vehicle gun but may venture in actually carrying so...
-I want to look into something small maybe even for pocket carry, I don't really know.
-I want at least 9mm for semi-auto or .38spl for revolver
-Not sure if I prefer an autoloader of a revolver

I plan on buying a good holster if I will be carrying.
Whatever I purchase I plan on shooting at the range a lot as I have a membership and can buy dies for the reloading setup for whatever caliber. I don't like shooting Glocks as I always seem to get slidebite. I do plan on renting a few but can only test so many. What would be a great gun to suit my needs?

I would get the P7M8 if I really thought it was much better than the others but do not really plan on buying it. Others I have been thinking are 3" 1911, S&W airlite revolver, P99c, and Kahr.

You can't go wrong with the P99c. It's a great gun, very ergonomic, very accurate, quite light(~18 oz). The AS trigger system gives you a couple choices for carrying in.

I keep mine loaded next to my bed at all times, and if I can ever get a CCW here in norcal, it'll be attached to my hip when I'm out.

Sounds like you got everything under control. You're trying out different guns, you're going to test fire them if possible, etc... They're all good choices that will be reliable so pick your favorite.

Oh but you should get a G19...even though you don't like it.

It's good for 1.5' groups up to 15 yards.

I have to adjust my grip all weird to be able to shoot it comfortably. I like to hold my hand as high as possible on the gun, however I always bleed every time I shoot the G19. I even have a scar now from shooting it so much
