I am looking for a good fax software (hopefully something IP based and not modem based?) that I can use from the desktop.

Customer I work with has a software where you can fax from email (i.e. email address TO is the fax #). No one can remember the name of the software?

Anyway - Anyone have any input?

Nope. Really, they all suck for some reason. It seems so simple yet no one has got it right to date. It's just bizarre.

Almost all fax software can fax from email in one form or another. Is this something for a single PC, an office, an enterprise, a starship?

There are also third party companies you can use to do email faxing without any hardware involved on your end.

Well, there are some companies like eFax that you could use. A full fledged server solution like Rightfax would be overkill. There may be some open source stuff than can act as a fax gateway using consumer level hardware instead of brooktrout boards. There are also some networkable all-in-one printers that might work, but instead of email to fax you would print to fax instead.

edit edit: HP Officejet 7310 All-in-One is networkable, MSRP is $399
