I haven't taken design classes since high school and I kind of want to study up on the basics again. Does anyone know if any sites that touch on the fundamental concepts of design that would be in a format similar to Lynda.com tutorials or something similar?

    Thanks for the help.

News University has some good, free tutorials on layout, color theory, etc.

Smashing Magazine is my homepage because every day has a very relevant article including typography, color theory, design movements and a lot of web design.

Lynda is a must for anyone.
    www.lynda.com

Core77 is a great resource for industrial and design theory

ffffound is a great site for random design inspiration and is updated a lot each day.
    www.ffffound.com (possible *NWS*)

The Dieline is probably one of my favorites for inspiration. very cool blog on package design.

I could go on forever. There are literarily thousands of blogs and sites dedicated to design. Some are great; others are just okay, but they each have their own great information. You just need to google and find which ones best suit you including NON-DESIGN sites, which a lot of the time have the best inspiration i.e., old movie sites, library of congress, MoMA, and so on. Good luck on your quest.
