OK so I used to work out when I was younger, and never used supplements/protein of any kind. Then I stopped because I took a really long backpacking trip and basically never picked it up again.

Now I've just recently started again. My main goal is strength, but gaining some mass would be nice as well (I def don't want to be HUGE). I picked up some Creatine Mono powder and some AMP Wheybolic 60 from GNC (actually wasn't that expensive because of BOGO, gold card).
In the last 3 weeks, I've gained 6lbs and still have my near-6pk. So far, so good.

Still, the Wheybolic 60 is pretty expensive (even though I only take 40g a day instead of their recommended 60). I've read a bunch of reviews on it, and people seem to think highly of it, but say it's much better for post-workout purposes because it absorbs really fast and because of some of the ingredients.

My question is...is there another protein I can just use in the AM on off days, or even in during workout days (except post-workout)? I was looking into Optimum 100% Whey, which appears to be the most popular product on the market and has a pretty good price from the looks of it.

Any other suggestions? I like the Wheybolic 60, but would really like to find something that is a bit less expensive and is just as good for daily intake.

ON is good. Don't get so hung up on whey. Intense Training, food and sleeping is most important.

So I've done a little reading about Syntha 6, and it looks like it tastes great and is a good time-release protein (great for in between meals, before bed). This is exactly what I'm looking for.

However, the ON Pro Complex is much cheaper, and I haven't had a problem dealing with nasty protein before so taste isn't a big factor for me. Is the Pro Complex also slow-release? Doesn't look to be that way, correct me if I'm wrong.

Pro Complex has egg protein in it in addition to the whey, which is a good protein to have mid-day. It's not as slow as casein but not as fast as whey.

Thanks. Should I consider taking the Wheybolic 60 post-workout, and the Pro Complex at all other times?

Like people have said, Protein supplements aren't everything, but I'm just looking for an opinion on whether the ones I've chosen are doing what I want them to do.

I always use a casein mix. Just using whey upsets my stomach.

I just take Pro Complex post workout. It has plenty of whey and BCAAs so it sounds good to me.
