I am thinking of a Para Ord. .45 PDA
was playing with it at the store today, and fell in love
plus, it looks the part
There was recently a story about a guy who carried a 1911...turns out when he had to use his gun he got shot in the hand...but by some miracle he was still able to grip the gun strong enough that he could shoot.
Just saying...be smart when it comes to choosing a gun for carry. If you want to make assumptions you will be able to activate the grip safety to use it under stress/injury, carry what you shoot best and find comfortable
Check this out if you're considering compact 1911s. For carry guns, I think there are far better choices.
hmm, the grip safety on these is pretty light, there wasnt alot of squeezing effort. that being said i dunno if i could keep my composure if i got shot in the hand
and yes, i understand that the 45 has very little range when you shorten the barrel length. i shot my buddies para 45 sub compact double stack. had it straight and level at a 50 yard target, and it fell short. that being said, i dont plan on using it for distance more than 20-30 yards. its a dailey carry self defence system. and i dont want to engage someone if i dont have to an if they are 50 yards away i would rather not put myself in a postion to open fire. i would rather see if i can get away safely. and if thats not an option then i would engage. other than that i would agree with you. there are better options
That article had nothing to do with ballistics.
sorry, when i read the title i assumed it had something to do with physics, i didnt read the whole article, just assumed it was the same issues re hashed
that article makes sense, the slide is very difficult to pull back on my buddies para.
para also chambers there PDA 1911 in 9mm. and my local shop has one in stock. would you suggest that as an alternative?
Aren't you looking for something chambered in .45 ACP?
yes. but its always a good idea keep your options open
looks heavy and snaggy
sounds like you're wanting the pistol more than the caliber
there's definitely better 9mm choices out there
i think this may be what it is. i think im just gunna save up the money and get it.
It's not about range so much as it is about velocity. A .45 out of a 3" barrel is dreadfully slow.
glock 30 if you want a .45, 23 if you want a .40 and 19 if you want a 9mm
Just carry a brick.
It'll weigh less, won't snag on your clothes, and has about the same chance of going "bang"
Buy my Para Ord stainless 1911. It's a Carry model chambered in .45ACP. I've probably only put ~300 rounds through it.
hk usp or bust
fook that. hk cares nothing about you
shortened frame 1911s FTL.
I love my full frame 1911, but it is a bit heavy for daily carry.
