I'm pretty sure this has been done in the past, at the very least some of the stickies in here had some sort of information for those of us starting out.

What books do you suggest someone just starting out read?

What videos do you suggest someone watch?

I'm going to be spending some time on a plane and figured i'd bring along some reading/watching material. :x:

For the noob, Understanding Exposure. Fantastic beginner book. Scott Kelby's quick tip books, (can't remember the exact name, but it's just a 3 book series of quick tips) are also excellent for the more advanced noob. The Hotshoe Diaries by Joe McNally is a great book for the more advanced photographer.

All of those...Understanding Exposure was my first book and it's very easy to read and understand with pictures helping as well. Written by Bryan Peterson.
