I picked up a book called "The Art of Assembly" a while ago. I made it about 200 pages in, when i just ran out of time to read it, but it was really good. The book teaches in someting called HLA (High Level Assembly) which basically integrates traditional C program control into assembly (loops, conditions, etc), and it would compile into tradional assembly. I never finished the book, but but aparently 3/4 the way through, he then explains standard asm. The book got great reviews and such, and it was written well, but i wasn't sure about the HLA stuff, and how it would work as a teaching tool.
