Rented lensrentals light tripod for a trip. Amazing setup with a markins q3 ballhead. So quick to setup.

What is a decent rig to buy? I liked that ballhead that took the Swiss plate.

i'm gonna do like $500 or so. i want to do it right. i just rented a velbon 540 and markin q3 ballhead from lensrental. it is FUCKING OUTSTANDING how great a really good tripod is to use. takes seconds to setup and the 360 degree ballhead is amazing. when locked, the thing doesnt move a bit.

i'm thinking of getting this tripod

they discontinued the 540, but this is close

    and this ballhead

I really like the swiss plate system too. so quick to put your camera on and take it off. the whole rig is light weight. i carried it miles all over the Utah desert no problem

    manfrotto 055pro

or if you want a bit smaller, 190pro, might even get that one in carbon fiber for an ok price. i think the 055 CF is about $400

to get the viewfinder to standing height on the 190, you have to extend the center column almost all the way, which is fuckin awful. 055 gets there with no center column

will look. i really like the light tripod i rented from them. fucker is rock solid

that markins q3 is amazing. i can tighten that up and have no prayer of moving it

yeah on the velbon, i was shooting it at maxed out height. the thing doesn't move at all. most tripods suck at full height. this one is solid as a rock. even in gusting winds, it was steady as can be.
