I've had an iPod before... and they work fine, but the internal batteries worries me somewhat. It's the reason my old one is currently a paperweight.

I'm in love with my Sirius Stiletto 100, but since I'm moving to Munich, Germany in a few months, it won't be of any real use to me over there...

Anyone have any good suggestions, aside from the iPod, or is that the best bet?

    TIA for your input :wiggle:

I hate the iPod because you can not take music off of them. I have an iPod because iPod interfaces in aftermarket radios are the best and most avalable.

I have a Creative Zen with 32GB of FLASH memory. I'm very pleased with it. Click here for my review.

Also an option is anything made by Archos; I've owned a couple of their players before and loved them, though the user interface wasn't as polished as the iPod or the Zen. Since you're moving to Europe, that might actually be the best bet, because Archos is a French company so repairs should be pretty cheap.

Zune. The 80gb 2nd gen zune is very nice ... and for 15 a month you can get unlimited downloads with the zune marketplace software. They make a dock that you can connect to your home stereo system and your television and use it as a full blown media player. You can sync wirelessly while the zune is in the dock.

With unlimited downloads and 80 gb ... you can really download and discover all kinds of new music very easily.

Disregarding any usability concerns or personal preferences, the Zune has the same fundamental problem as the iPod: the same company that sold you the hardware is also selling you the content. You want to know the real reason why Macs cost twice as much as comparable PCs, when the OS by itself is only a hundred bucks? It's because of vertical integration -- i.e., they charge you more because you have no other options.

You want to let one company control what you can listen to in addition to how you can listen to it, go right ahead and buy a music player sold by Apple or Microsoft. If you want to not get ripped off, buy something made by any other company besides them.

The 2nd gen Zunes with the new touchpad blow the Ipod away...

Batteries are batteries. They can and do go bad. The newer Ipods do have a much better battery life.

As for getting music off an Ipod, you can. It's not the easiest thing to do, but can be done.

I can get my music off my Zen by plugging in a USB cable. Beat that.

I've played with them all, and the iPod is the only one actually worth using on a daily basis.

WTH are you talking about? I changed the music on my iPod hundreds of times. Just plug it into your PC and clear the selections you don't want on it anymore.

I believe he was talking about copying the music from the Ipod to a PC, which can be done.

yes but not conveniently through itunes.
I dont like the ipods but its nice to have thousands of accessories to choose from. I have a flashed based zune which is great; so far no problems. I think im going to pop for an 80 gb soon; i love how theres a video output in the audio jack so you can watch your vids on a tv . Lets see how deusexaethera shuts down this large-company product. It couldnt be because the zune is actually really well organized and easy to use... no, its a big mean company that wants your money!!

I've messed with the zune and didn't like it.

And the ipod has the video in the audio connector, as well.

If I tunes really does come out with the unlimited downloads feature for 15 bucks a month like the zune marketplace, I'm selling my zune and getting an Ipod. I love my zune buy my biggest frustration is a complete lack of accessories worth a shit for the zune.

You don't do it through Itunes, you use another program... Either way I don't think it's something that anyone would need to do often. I was just pointing out the fact that it's possible since another post said it couldn't be done.

My vote still goes to the Zune. But... I did just pick up a new (to me) ipod-ready head unit and I'm getting tempted to switch back to an Ipod for that since I use my Zune 99% of the time in my Jeep anyway.

And it is worthless to have to hack to get it off.

It is worthless to not be able to play your iPod's music through iTunes on someone else's computer (yeah...lets re-sync :ugh:)

It is over all another potentially awsome piece of hardware fucked up by mac's inability to not gay everything up that they do.

Lets not forget that their grand plan to convert everyone to apple was to make iTunes and the iPod only compatable with apple. Then they wondered why the iPod didnt take off like it could have in the very beggining. Apple is the absolutely most faggot-filled company in america.
