Is there such a thing as a head unit that does GPS, CDs (duh), MP3s on CD, XM radio built in, HD radio, and has a front side input jack for an ipod? I've looked at 4 units so far that have the GPS built in, but don't have XM (or even HD) radio.

Don't know of one right offhand with all those features built in. It's probably something you would have to assemble using add on adapters.

My father bought a new car with an in-dash factory GPS with Sirius recently. He prefers the features on his older portable Garmin GPS over the in-dash. With a good mount, a portable would probably work just as well along with a standard head unit. Overall you would likely save money on the deal and be able to pick out a GPS that will have the features you prefer.

why not go with the Pioneer nav product? The D1 is priced well, and does most (if not all) of what you want.

Carputer would take care of all your needs and more.

Virtually endless library (no need for CD's at all)
    GPS Navigation
XM radio (you just have to buy the antenna and software, or use one of the portable units with a line in)
You can hook an iPod up to it (though there is no need since your library is in your car)
Wifi, meaning when you park your car, before your computer shuts down your home library and car library will sync.
Also, park at any wifi hotspot and pull out a wireless keyboard and surf the net
Or, if you have the money for it, get one of thoes sprint cards and acess the net while you are going down the road at DSL speeds. This means you can surf imeem.com or w/e to get any song you could ever want on demand.

    God I want one. I just need ~$1000. :(

Seems like it would be a bit difficult to hook up, and likely to overheat. No warranty on that I'd imagine. Definately worth considering though.

What didnt you like about it? What front end were you using if any? What OS? Specs on the computer?

Boot time is the big downfall for me, that is why I am going to keep my CD player.

If you buy quality components and dont cut corners everywhere carputers can be great. I've just been salivating over the idea agian because I am back working with my dad in IT so it'd be easy to put my list of components on our next order from our supplier.

the kenwood dnx5120 has all of the above (except sirius instead of XM) and it's pretty reasonable

i think a few ppl here have given millionbuy a decent review, but i think they said the prices were sometimes mediocre.
