    Okay, website re-design time.

Here's a quick notesheet I did over breakfast this morning....

Help me decide on background color, logo color, and if you know of any decent system-configuration scripts.

    current logo is:
    #CC3333
    I'm considering
    #F2A633
    #6699CC

edit: I guess some background info is due. We've decided to branch off our custom system build/upgrade services into a seperate entity. Name will follow our current convention (Of the 3 companies we currently have, all start with "Helica" and the second name uniquely describes that business' interests. Thus-far they've all maintained the same color scheme, but we're changing that.

It's not up yet... I'm obviously starting the brainstorm phase -- a precursor to the design phase, which I hope to start tomorrow... I typically make three concepts and then put them up for a vote.

You did say "re-design time", so I assume you already have something thats online that you plan to redesign?

I dunno about you, but I cant brainstorm ideas on paper... for me its easier to open the gfx program and start making prototypes, and then just choose whichever I hate the least.

Do you think 1024x768 is a reasonable minimum resolution, or should I stick with 800x600?

I built a site recently in 1024x768, and it looks like it's worked ok on every system I've looked at it on.

As for colors, I'd go with the "blue" over the "yellow", with perhaps a white or silver border on the red logo.

Some people still use 800x600, and I tend to design make the site accessible for those people

Here are stats from my site:

Background color I'd say i like:
    003366

I think it goes good with the red. What kind of business is it and can we see the logo or an altered sample of a lookalike without giving out the company name?

Try to stick to web colors to speed up the process a bit.

yea, I typically stick with web colors. I'm tempted to design for 800x600 because XP defaults to it, and I bet a small percentage of our clients will use it.

Here's some logo's I drew up to see the effects of BG and FG colors:

Which ones (if any) do you like?

I'm throwing around the idea to completely change the logo.

black bg, 2nd one down. Seems to "pop" a little more than the others with the black bg.

I think the red/white/black look sharp as well as the red/black/white

those look the most "pro" in my opinion.

the one in the top right corner is the same color scheme we have now, btw.

This is the logo we're currently using:

Plan is to split company in two... One focuses on business consulting and sysadmin services... with the other taking over consumer systems/repair.

Cheaper/easier to keep it under the same umbrella... Buy I'm now toying with the idea of putting it completely seperate... dunno, I'm perplexed.

I wanna use as few colors as possible, tho. These look like a crayon box.

I agree too many colors. I say stick with a white/black background and a two-color logo.
