What are you using to park? I did a homebrew setup a year ago and found temperature is very important for the color to take, mine was ~5 degree's too low and didn't take much color.

commercial chemicals. no sense in homebrew when chemicals are reasonably priced

Ya, but it sounds that much better when you tell people I put this Ak together with some bolt cutters and big sledge hammer in my garage. Then Parkerized it in a stainless vat in the carport.

Better....in a ghetto fabulous, backwoods kinda way :wiggle:

Yup, but I was broke at the time, just moved and starting school at a new school. I know the parking chemical's are reasonable, but I spent about what you paid for shipping. $7 for the one chemical, forgot the name, then gut out a couple old D cell batteries.

I will try the chemicals from Brownells next time tho.

parkerizing is way too much work, too much time commitment. parts have to be sparkling clean or they come out with white shit on them. parts have to be blasted, and cannot be anything but regular steel. luckily oiling them turned that white stuff black. 1919 looks great though.

white stuff might be normal if you let them sit without oil
