At class on Tuesday we were introduced to a guest named Vander who is a monster and a black belt from Gracie Humaita in Brazil. Vander is a 3 time Braillian National Champion and two time Pan American champion and has numerous runner up medals. He showed us an amazing sweep from the guard into side control and from there into a sick arm lock that no one (even my instructor had ever seen before). Really nice guy and is offering private lessons while he is here this week. I got the last available private one on one lesson with him tomorrow night and I am really stoked.

We've got Jacare coming to our gym to do a no gi training session. Shit costs $80. I figured there is no point in me attending because I am so new that I can learn just as much from any of the instructors I see regularly.

i am new and being one on one was great. he showed me 4 sweet moves (sick way to pass full guard to side control to mount to armlock, great half guard to side control, omoplatta, and a passing spider guard into side control. he wouldn't end teh training till he found my work acceptable to his standards :big grin:

Dude take advantage of that shit, he'll likely even teach you somethin that your instructor doesn't know. There is so much to learn about jits that its not possible to learn it all from one source.
