I really hope they dont match him up with one of the 30 solid wrestlers in the LW division. Regardless of how mediocre he has looked recently, I would love to see him come in full steam ahead and build a fan base here.

Hopefully he will stop looking like an overweight shiba inu before his net fight.

Joe Silva and the UFC aren't ones to build up fighters (unless your name rhymes with "Hoger Ruerta"), and considering a majority of the UFC LWs are bulldog wrestlers, i say Gomi will go 1/3 before he's out

because he's fought so many good wrestlers in his career

Ishida was probably the best wrestler he's faced. he'd get ragdolled by Sherk, Guida, Diego, Maynard, Edgar, especially in the cage

Gomi's still got some fight in him. Great addition to the division.

:hsugh: Maynard is the only one who will steamroll Gomi wrestling wise. Edgar can beat him on his feet and not really use his wrestling. Gomi wins all the other fights.

gomi will just gas and spend rounds 2 and 3 with his hands on his hips and that pained look on his face

Id love to see a motivated and in shape gomi come in and make some things happen.
With that said, i dont think he cant hang with the big boys in the division. Still, im actually very excited to hear about this.

talking about matchups, not fighter marketing...

forrest fought tito in his 3rd fight. legit to me

franklin didn't have any competition in the MW for awhile

bonnar was never that great, so he always stuck to fighting midlevel competition

diego faced kenflo his first fight, nick diaz his 3rd, then allesio, parisyan...

    they never built up quarry

    i'll give you bisping though
so who would modern day gomi beat in the UFC? he's looked good recently against Nakamura and Hervey, but they're nobodies in comparison
i'm confident that - at very least - Sherk would smother him, especially in the cage

quarry fought lodune sincaid, shonie, and pete sell, then bam fingers in the MW title fight.

diego fought kenflo @ 185  becuase he had to, it was the tuf final. after every tough fight diego had they gave him an easy fight. he had brian who? gassaway, then uh oh, diaz gave him a good fight, better give him alessio. uh oh, karo did the same, lets give him dumbass riggs. he loses to fitch & kos, then gets a pride failure dave bielkasnlnfwekfnknd.

forrest fought bill mahood, sinosic, and then a B-level tito that had not fought in over a year. then bonnar again, jardine, and sick dog. fuck forrest.

franklin should have fought matt lindland instead of quarry.

franklin vs. quarry was back in 2005...the UFC MW div had NOBODY at the time. franklin cleaned the entire div

forrest wasn't really showing that he could face higher competition until he was (supposed to be) fed to shogun

the ufc was ducking lindland, who was at the top of his game during '05.

try using forrest's excuse for the other griffin in the LW div. dude's only had maybe 2 easy fights in his 9 fight career.
