The Granite is Thinsulate, I wouldn't consider it overbearingly warm, only in 30+ degrees. That insulation was prime for most of my riding last year, I do have a few uninsulated options with high waterproofing I can give ya. I'll do a post later tonight since I have to run off to dinner right now.

I'm in no hurry, if the snow is as slow as it was last year.

I did most of my skiing last year in just a waterproof shell and a baselayer. It can get warm, so I'd rather layer than have an insulated shell.

It's a shame, as the granite looks perfect in every other way. The Fraternity is a nice design, but the 5k/5k is too low for our wet snow and potentially warmer temps (ie, sweaty).

Thanks for supplying the gear whores :big grin:

Oh, and I only looked at ski/board jackets, since I fall A LOT so I need a powder skirt.

Yup we definitely can do APO addresses by shipping USPS. Where are you going to in the Alps? Can't wait to head back there, after riding Switzerland when I was 16, I need to go back and ride the big mountain there as it should have been done.

I hope the snow isn't as slow as last year damn it! You can easily do a shell with insulation/warm baselayer, but go towards more of a ski specific shell that allows for all season use.

I love the Granite's a little longer fit for riding and its a little bit more relaxed, but if you don't want insulation then you won't need it. The Fraternity is 10k/10k, we don't do anything below 10k for waterproof.

    My recommendations:

    Sigma XP Jacket

    Other Colors:

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

    $275 - 15k/15k - Shell - Powder Skirt

In love with this jacket for its color and look. Wish the fit of the body was a tad longer, but I might make due just to rock the green for riding this year.

    Verglas Jacket

    Other Colors:
    [IMG][IMG]

    $400 - 15k/15k - Shell - Powder Skirt

I have this and have beaten the shit out of it to no end. Stands up to anything I throw at it. Won Skiing Magazine Jacket of the Year last year.

    Odin Mountain Jacket

    $500 - 20k/20k - Everything

This is the mountaineering and back country skiing jacket on crack for us, along with the Odin Patrol Jacket. Light, full stretch, durable as hell. YKK made the first ever custom waterproof zipper for this jacket for the love of god.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Northmarker XP Jacket

    $325 - 15k/15k - Shell - Powder Skirt

Nice jacket, can't remember the fit that well, but a lot like the Sigma but in a 3 Layer 15k/15k fabric.

There is also an orange version of the Odin Mountain Jacket on special for $360 instead of $450 just because it was last years color.

I didn't even see those on the main HH website. Thanks a bunch, I think I'll try to find the first one you posted. Nice color choices too.

    :h5:

Sigma XP is a complete dead bird ripoff name though :mamoru:

The main HH website is fairly complete but a little confusing at times. If you are trying the local stores for the Sigma Jacket, Bellevue is the only one with it in stock currently (the Grass Green, and the Black are the only ones in stock). The other two colors are available via online store.

I can tell you on that one, I had to bump up a size because I didn't feel the body length on the jacket was enough for riding.

What part of Germany? I've traveled around most of Southern and Western Germany and have skied in the convenient places of Switzerland to Germany, so let me know if you need some information!

Does that code work in stores? I was going to head down there in November for that huge Newport ski sale. Might as well see if I can just buy it in person.

    And WTF title change

I'm not sure if I trust Oakley clothing, but it's a cheap gamble.

I know that area well so I can give you a laundry list of cool areas to hit up. You'll be near Frankfurt, pretty big industrial town, home of Porsche & Mercedes factories which their museums and factory tours are awesome. I can highly recommend Bonn, Koln, Dusseldorf & Brussels all up north, ridiculous towns and most have a pretty good nightlife. Closer to Bonn is the world's most famous race track, the Nurburgring (in the town of Nurburg, Germany), if you are into cars at all, its a must, especially riding along in the BMW M5 Ring Taxi ($100-125 for a lap with a professional race driver, with other people in the car). And for the love of god, if you are stationed there through October of next year, take the train to Munich on the last weekend in September, drink the whole way and GOTO the opening weekend of Oktoberfest in lederhosen, one of the best weekends I've ever had.

Skiing wise, I've been to Verbier, Switzerland. A little bit of a drive (or train ride) but one of the coolest ski towns I've been too, as well as HUGE amounts of terrain, 4x more than Whistler. They also tout the best night life for a ski area in the world, I'd peg it a 2nd or 3rd to a few. :noes: Otherwise you have Andermatt, Switzerland as well as Grenoble, France; all of these are some of the coolest mountain towns on earth with the best riding.

The code won't work in stores, just an online only deal. Not a bad Oakley jacket, their quality has been progressing in the last 2 years, which this years line I'm fairly impressed with.
