Why did this shot require HDR -- versus, say a graduated ND filter and/or polarizing filter?

looks good the only thing is, it seems to lack a subject.

need something in the foreground to plant my eyes on.

Maybe if a gold cart was there or something, or maybe a flag, just something to help with the flow

I'd probably bump the saturation down just a little bit... and like others said, a subject in the foreground would really add to the composition.

I'll see your golf shot and raise you two. No HDR needed. Right time of day ftw.

besides the subject issue and the clouds looking a little odd, I don't see a problem with his image...:dunno:

i can see the subject argument, but are the shots promotional for the course? If so I would think they would want the golf course to be the subject.

Re: the pic, the green looks a bit saturated to me :dunno:

understandable but you can still convey the message of a golf course by having a golf cart or a person swinging, or even a flag, maybe even a tree. just something,

Anyone else bothered by how terribly artificial HDR shots seem to be?

    nice shot.

better than most hdr shots I've seen. I agree the sky is over done and the foreground lacks a subject, though.

I love the hdr shot. a little too much saturation, but it's still a pretty damn nice shot.

I'll never get how you homos can be so against hdr yet whack off to lightroom presets and fake graduated blue sky filters...

Gotta embrace the new technology and use it correctly.

That's the problem...they don't think HDR CAN be used correctly when this is a great example of when it can.

Again, it's not perfect and does lack a few things already mentioned to death, but it is a good use of the HDR technique. I can 99.9% guarantee if this was redone with a few enhancements, this would make a perfect set of photos for a golf course website.
