The DT load is faster with more energy. The Speer I can buy in stores locally. Anyone have experience with either?

I have heard things about 147gr bullets not expanding.

FBI uses 147gr Winchester bonded. It used to be 147gr gold dots.

Really you should buy 100 rounds of each and shoot them in your gun. Everyone has their own preference. I much prefer the way the 124's and 125's cycle the gun. Good slide speed. Other people like the 147's because it has a longer recoil impulse and to them it feels softer.

Check for reliable feeding, check for accuracy, check to see how the gun tracks in recoil. Check to see if point of impact matches your ball practice ammo. If you want to do a poor man's expansion test line up three 2 litter bottles of soft drink filled with water one after another in a line. Then shoot though them. The round should penetrate the 1st and stop in the 2nd and at most the 3rd. You can recover the round as a souvenir.

Or you can do like most noobs post on the net, read something a "Internet shooter" regurgitate off some ad sheet.

I haven't seen any solid evidence that DT ammo is better than regular GD. What I have seen is some crazy fragmentation, so I choose to stick with regular GD +P. If so many LE agencies use it, it's good enough for me.

DoubleTap, known for producing more kB's per capita than most other "manufacturers."

I would go with Speer. Large, established company plus available locally means easier resupply with proven ammo.
