Ok, laught at me all you want, but my first serious GF just told me she didn't love me anymore, and everytime I have nothing to do (ex: not at class, not with my friends, etc.), I feel like hitting the gym. Would it be a bad thing to do so? Can I benefit from this sudden increase in time/energy to reach new heights in my lifting?

Timber does this and look at his results!!! :eek4:

I've gotten pretty good results when I used to run 5Kx4 week and lifted 3x week.

Just like anything, once you form a habit it's a lot easier.

used to do the arnold routine that had you going to the gym twice a day a few times a week. Worked for me but i started getting overtrained after about a month of it.

Sorry to hear about your GF. Stay up man. Breaking up with the ol' fiancee is what got me back in the gym hardcore :o

I'd rather train outdoors once and go to the gym once

I have done the cardio morning, weight train evening workout. It works fine.
I have also tried a training technique a friend of mine who is a trainer and former Mr. Louisiana, and other accomplishments suggested...I have done light in the morning and heavy in the evening. Same body poart, but changed routine. I gained 8 pounds of solid muscle in 35 days. I went from 185# w/13% bf...to 193# and 7% bf. I was very happy at that result.

    My gf's father does.

He sleeps from 7pm to 11pm every day, wakes up and goes to the gym to lift. Then comes home at 3pm and goes to the gym to do cardio. Repeat every day. He's just about 60 years old, and could crush me in one hand. I don't know how the hell he does it but he has been for decades.

I did this last (late) spring/summer when I cut down and it worked very well.

I would go in the morning and do cardio or basketball. Or if it was nice out, go running in the morning.
Then at night I would hit the weights and do a little bit more cardio (like 10min) at the end. It actually worked out pretty well but it is hard to maintain it.

It sucked showering twice a day and needing 2 changes of socks/underwear, and then once school started it was basically impossible unless I could in the gym by 7am... which wasn't going to happen.

At the end of my cut in june/july I plan to institute this again for about a month. I am hoping to see the same results if not better.

He. Is. HUGE. He could crush me. We talk about lifting every once in a while and he's like "well I was warming up with 400 for dead lifts and then went on to 500 but I don't like going that high because it makes noise." He works out at a planet fitness with that stupid lunk alarm. I'm like :eek4: you're 65!
