Found out I get to go to the board next monthafter being told by the CO SGM that I couldn't because I didn't reup. Keep in mind I just hit my 24month window in July and could've done it tax-free but i choose to wait. I'll have been an E-5 for about 16months. Longer then most of my peers who avged anywhere from probably 4months-14months. I just have a SGM who a little particular... Anyhow I'm excited. Just means more money as my job doesn't change.

wow. Army advances super quick... you sometimes have airforce cats RETIRING at e-5. In the navy it usually takes an average of 8-10 years to make E-6.

I think 39 months is fast too.

I'm Army, and just got my E5 after 40 months.

I put on E-5 first time. I'm up for E-6 test for the first time at 75 months. If I make it, I won't get to pin it on until my 91st month.

Wow... you are up for E-6 at 39 months?!!!

    what is your MOS?

I work with a 25S that put E-6 at around 36 months. Matter of fact, I know a couple.

depends on the MOS in the Army. there are guys in my MOS that will retire as an E-5, a lot more at E-6. The progression is just not there in some MOSs.

If I were infantry or a truck driver, I would be E-6 right now, and getting looked at for E-7 at 48 months or so.

yah its different. we don't really do pt. I think I score like a 210 on my pt test. We don't qualify too often. The last time i did, i shot a 25 which is about avg for us I think.

Oh, in the AF Band, you could get E-6 just for being awesome on your instrument.

    What's your TIS?

I'm a truck driver, and as I said earlier, I'm at 40 months and am just not getting my E-5. I haven't even got pinned yet, I just noticed it on my current LES which says I got promoted on 28Sept.
