Going to start jogging...

    im 23 and starting to get a little bit of a gut from lack of exercise and food/beer.. How much will jogging 3 - 4 times a week help me out?? Or will it not help at all?? I have not ran/jogged since high school :wtc: Any advice will be great..

    I dont eat totally shitty.. fast food maybe once or twice a week.. im thinking its the 4 nights of drinking beer that put me over the limit.. :hs:

    What advice are you looking for?

    Obviously jogging is better for you than not jogging. So, yes, it will be good for you.

    Jog. Diet well. Lift weights. Feel good.

    It's more simple than it seems.

    alcohol will sabatoge what you do in the gym. Every two beers is about equal to a snickers bar (except all the calories from those beers are empty). Drink a 12 pack per night and that is like eating 6 candy bars.:hsd:

    in my experience, starting to jog will suck in the beginning, then get a lot better... then start to suck again

    but once it starts getting better, you'll start eating healthier and making healthier choices.

    I'm doing the couch-to-5k program right now, link :http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml. It's designed to help people ease into running because a lot of them push themselves too hard in the beginning and end up burning out before seeing any results.

    oh, and if you're serious, pick up a pair of decent running shoes. I have a pair of Asics that have been a Godsend in terms of comfort. Being flat-footed, it's hard to find a shoe that doesn't leave me with shin splints

    Umm... fastfood twice a week and 4 nights of drinking.. is eating totally shitty. If you want results you need to change that.

    see what happens when u drink cheap drinks! (beer)!!

    usually after a day of drinking especially i go for a jog in the morning. then eat something with olive oil to boost that test back up

    Also, don't drink. I've been trying to diet and been drinking my face off on the weekends and I'm not really losing weight well at all and my lifts are sucking because of the dieting I'm doing during the week.

    Oktoberfest this weekend FTL :(

    What if i cut it down to 2 nights of drinking?? 10 - 16 beers weekly??

    i just want to be fit and enjoy my social life.. Im not looking to get jacked.. just to stay fit :squint:

    If you want to get in good shape, no. If I were you I would cut it down to one night of a few beers (2 max) and another where you drink 6 if you REALLY need to get a buzz. If you drink 16 non-light beers (about 150 cals a piece), that is 2400 calories. 3500 calories equals a pound. How do you expect to get rid of the fat you have right now if you are adding nearly a pound each week just by drinking?

    Ahh.. I see now.. Would light beers help??? getting into jogging and working out is going to take alot of self control i see.. :hsd:
