Going to college next year...

    any recommendations on laptops? I'm kind of leaning towards dell and any deals and or advice would be appreciated. Thankss

    Last time I dealt with laptops dell was using shady equipment in there. I would get an HP. I'm guessing you just want a plan jane laptop that you can surf the internet and do projects on.

    newegg memorial day sale started yesterday
    bestbuy and others would probably release their adds soon

    my recommendation is check with your college first.

    see if they get/give a discount. see if there's something they recommend. check that if you buy it through them they'll support it, load software, preconfigure it for the local network, etc.

    i heart my eee pc 1000. $400 atm but that might drop with the new touch screen eees coming out now.

    actually really important to be able to plug it out and get over 5 hours battery life with wifi and no noise when studying, and almost no heat. You'll probably have these problems with every big budget laptop, afaik.

    Only laptop I ever had was a Dell I got in 2003. Couldn't have been more pleased with it. Hardly ever had problems with it and it ran great. My sister has it now and it's still chugging along today. Batteries are completely shot, but other than that works great.
