Do I really need the 120GB? Or even the 80GB? What are the best deals around?
Slims only come in 120gb or 250gb. I filled up my launch 60gb real easily, ended up buying a second 250gb slim.
You can always put in a new HD later though.
idk i would just go for broke and get the 250 slim unless you're looking for something with backwards compatibility.
also on the flip side, you can pick up a used fat ps3 that will still work like new for cheap, then put a huge HDD in it for the same price, probably cheaper, as a 120 gig slim.
This. I spent about $200 total on a BC enabled fat with no HD and a 260GB SATA HD I bought on the side.
What did you fill it up with?
I dont think there's much on my 80 that i've had for 2 years...I was actually just talking with a friend on which one to get and he's like "do i really need 250gb"
Just games & game installs I guess. I don't have any music or video on it aside from some game trailers. Now that I think about it I find it hard to believe I have 60 gigs of games and game installs but maybe
yeah, ive got a 20 gig with a 120 swapped in. ive got under 30 gigs left now. it fills up fast.
So they work with a normal internal harddrive that a PC would use?
They use notebook SATA drives. Just pop them in and let the PS3 format them and it should work.
you can install ps3 games?
i dont think ive filled up my 40gb
i wish i had 40 gig left on my 120 at this point
put the disc in the system and they usually install themselves
Do you -need- to install games?
if the game needs to be installed, theres no choice. thats where alot of HD space will go. but once you are done, you can always delete it. its never more than 3 or 4 gig usually. except for mgs 4 really
how many games do u play at a time?
I have a 60 gig and I have 6 movies and probably 15 games on there with 20 gigs to spare.
Just bought a 7200 drive to upgrade the 60, gamespot shows like a 5% speed increase for 7200 over 5400 on ps3
i stuck with the 5400 drive, just cause the system is designed to run that, didnt wanna push anything. and the speed increase isnt worth the risk of the faster speed causing any issues, if any
120gb Slim FTW! That's what I got and I love it. I don't really see the need for a 250gb unless you're planning on having a movie library on your PS3 although you can just use your PC as a media server and be able to have a PS3 movie library without even taking up any space on the PS3.
i got a 250 gig drive laying around that will be going into it as soon as i finish filling this drive up, which is a 120
if u can get ur hands on the 60 gb discontinued verison that is simply the best ps3 at the market
if not then just the ps3 slim 120 or 250 gb. makes no difference its the same except in harddrive spaces.
