I really want a 340PD but would rather spend the extra money (over a 642 or 442) on some CT grips and some ammo to train a little with it. :o

Found a 442 used on a local auction site with the lasergrips installed already, auction doesn't end for like 9 days, so I'll probably keep an eye one that.

  2. Either way, you'll love it J-frames rock.

That said, 340PD or gay. :mamoru:

While the 642 doesn't look as cool as the 442, I think that it being more visible in the dark is a plus, I imagine a perp would be a little more intimidated by a big shiny barrel sticking in his face than a flatish black. Of course this is totally theoretical and I have no basis for my opinion. I just know that I'd recognize a silver gun being shoved in my face in the dark faster than a black one.

    :dunno:

i was going to buy a .380 (i started a thread asking for opinions about it) but today i bought the S&W 642 .38spl+p.

I didn't get the CT grips because they wanted almost $200 more for the same gun with the laser sight grips (fuck that)

the 642 was priced well (on sale) is light, and of course S&W is a pretty trustworthy brand.

I haven't fired it yet (just got home about 2 hours ago with it) but i'm happy with the purchase. If i could change 1 thing about it it would be the sights. I'll probably do something with this front sight eventually, not sure what yet though.

aside from the sights it seems like a pretty decent piece, the sights do suck though, but then again with a 1 7/8" barrel it's pretty much a point and shoot anyway i guess.

seems pretty perfect for a small conceal weapon, aside from only having 5 rounds and no quick mag change for more ammo, then again if i put 5 .38 + P hollow points in someone and they're still coming i should probably just fucking run anyway lol.

I've pretty much made up my mind, I'll probably get it this week unless I wait for that auction to end. I just sold my GSG5 today, so I've got the cash burning a hole in my HOT LITTLE HANDS. :o

I also really want to buy a Ruger Mk III 22/45 :o

i got the thing for pretty much conceal carry only, it'll only see a little range time, just enough to be effective and get used to the weapon. If my wife or i needed it for protection i won't be taking time to use sights or look for a laser sight i'm gonna be pointing and shooting in a hurry.

and i wasn't gonna add almost $200 to a $425 gun for a laser sight. if i find a ct grip to add to it more affordably i might go that route, but today at the store i was at it was just shy of $200

If you practice with it enough and learn how to work the trigger you can shoot all center mass from 25 yards.

Took me about 500 rounds to become that confident with mine though.

yeah it'll take awhile to get used to the long trigger pull, i'm sure i'll pull some shots to the right until i get used to it.

When you start messing with it, you can feel where the trigger grabs when it spins the cylinder. I usually pause there for a second and realign my shot. Has helped my accuracy immensely

really want one (340PD) but just have too much other gun/survival related shit to buy right now. Wife is wanting everything I have. Thankfully she can have one of the extra AR's.

She wants us to finish putting together full BOB's, even wants gas masks.

I do  her, but worked hard to have no debt besides our student loans and mortgage

I have a gas mask. :hs:

MG's cop friend gave it to me to encourage me to feel happy about him getting the Glock 29 (the first gun that would be in our dwelling).

    Another happy 642 owner.

I just wish I could find some ammo for it, cause right now I can't really practice :\

You've gotta reload for .38 special for really affordable practice. But yes 442/642 ftw.

Did it end up in the gun room or is it in a closet?

  25. It's in the box on the shelf in the closet of the gun room.
