you guise got any advice ? pointers ?

There is a garage here that you can rent out per hour and they have all the tools you need. They also provide dealer service manuals and help you out in any way they can. It's pretty fucking cool. I might even document the shit ... :coold:

any of you guise done this yourselves ??

do it if you want the experience, but it'll be cheaper and faster to have it done.

Take your time. Nothing worse than going through the "FUCK!!!! I want a time machine to go back exactly 5 seconds, no more no less!"

I will save about $200 if I do it myself considering it takes me up to 8 hours to do. If it takes less I will save more. I plan on going slow and taking my time too.

yes, the 16k includes the valve adjustment thus why it runs more monies ... i got quoted between 350 - 575 from different Honda dealerships, parts and labor included ... one even said they'd replace gaskets to ensure no leaks ... which is pretty cool and I might do that as well.

the manual also says to let the dealerships replace tires ... i've done that myself already at this garage ... :coold: ... i know tires are not hard though, :o

lol, the guys that run the garage both have their own race bikes that they do all the work on so they are quite knowledgeable.

so nobody here has done it ?? :hsd:

I haven't, but will.... someday. I don't know when the first valve adjustment is offhand, but I only have about 1200 miles on my bike now. Is there anything you can do, even if not ALL the work, to make it cheaper? On the Ninja, I could probably remove fairings, do the oil change, etc., just to take some labor out of the total, then leave the "hard stuff" like valve adjustment, to the pros.

I dont know if doing "some" of the work will make it cheaper at the stealerships ... they have a book that dictates how many hours they should charge for whatever work they do ... I guess you could talk to them directly and find out.

so don't bring it to a dealership.

there are plenty of fantastic independent mechanics around.

It isn't that hard to do a valve adjustment.
