Hopefully I'm going to find a good price on a carry pistol. I've kind of got my sights set on a Kahr K40 or possibly an MK40, but I'm also looking at a Walther P99 or P99c, CZ P-01 or RAMI, or a HK P2000 LEM or SK. I need to check out the sizes when I get there a little better to see if I want to go with a subcompact. Here's hoping I find something worthwhile and not just a bunch of NC rednecks with bullshit booths selling jewelry and beef jerky.

Don't scratch off the SW M&Ps. The Walther P99 is a good carry gun.

There is a particular store here that costs me $1000+ everytime I walk in.

The show is over in New Bern, NC. Last time I went there, sometime last year, it was pretty piss poor. Probably going to have to go to one in Charlotte or Raleigh sometime just to see some real deals.

Well, got back a bit ago. A little good, a little bad. In NC you have to get a pistol purchase permit from the county to live in... Well, even though the sheriff was there issuing permits, I don't live in Craven county so my father-in-law and I couldn't get permits. Long story short we made our purchases and the dealers are holding the pistols until I get the permits. I go Monday to apply for them.

He picked out a Ruger P89TH, new for $437 and a couple 30 rnd mags for his 10/22. It seems like an alright auto, but I don't have the heart to tell him my opinion of Ruger semi-autos. I just don't like the looks or ergonomics of them, but it saved him about $100 from picking it up at home in MI.

I got a decent deal on a Karh PM9 on consignment for $499. Not exactly what I was looking for, but it'll do just fine. Came with the box, flush mag, and +1 finger extension mag. It's used, but there's no signs of holster wear or anything else. I'm thinking it was bought shot a few times and pretty much it. I've been looking at holsters since I've been home and am thinking about either a High Noon Tail Gate tuckable IWB or a Pocket Grabber pocket holster. I want to pick up a couple Pearch Grip Extensions too.

Now for the stupid question. Since the pistol was on consignment the dealer doesn't actually own it and shouldn't add tax to the bill, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't understand charging tax on something you don't own, it should be like a face-to-face. So am I getting screwed on $38 worth of sales tax? If I am I'll be raising a fit about this when I pick up the pistol. Maybe I can get a refund or atleast walk out of there with some merchandise.
