    I have a SP 1.8Ghz G5 with 1.25GB of RAM right now. I was thinking about going with 2 more 512MB sticks to bump it up to 2.25GB total because they are so cheap ($45 per stick of Crucial RAM). Will I notice any improvement? I know going from 256MB to 1.25GB was a noticeable difference. I do some editing in Final Cut, some light Photoshop work, etc.

    1gb + 512mb != 1.25gb

    i was wondering what people's opinions of third party ram. I know that it's cheaper than what mac sells, but are there performance/compatibility/warranty issues?

    There are only 2 slots for RAM in the PowerBook so I think he means he is going to replace one of the 256MB sticks with a 1GB. Though you should match the sticks with DDR RAM to get the best performance.
