Stepping back in after a long layoff. Been training regularly for the past two months. My boxing is being retooled. Worked on my stance and guard placement. My right jab feels great, but for some reason I can't get it to feel right on the left which is my natural stance. I prefer standing southpaw since I absorb hits better and see better, but I don't have enough power in my left hand. My cross needs more hip rotation. I thought it was ok but it wasn't enough. The shoulder needs to be connected to the hip. Got a good tip on hooks. Step with your back foot in the opposite direction of where your hook is going. It generates more power. Defense felt rusty but it's getting better. As for bjj, I need to roll with bigger dudes but otherwise I haven't forgotten much and felt pretty good rolling for about an hour straight. It was Friday when I had a sparring session that lasted 3 rounds before I got totally winded. It wasn't too bad considering my time off as I've kept up my cardio lately, but my technique went to shit. For cardio I'll be riding about 10 miles on the bike with a 50ft climb per mile. Weights I don't do too much with them. Just some bicep, forearm and shoulder work, along with fist pushups. I'm 5'8 164.5lbs right now. Looking to drop all the way to 150lbs from 174lbs by the end of the year. I'm hoping that nobody can hurt me at that weight.
