GoDaddy is offering Domain Name Registration (new domains only) for $1.99 for 1 year with code geo199. A 18-cent ICANN fee applies, making it $2.17 per domain

I spent like 2 hours last night looking for coupons.

GEO199 is only good for a single year on one domain. If that's all you need, you won't find anything better.

The best one I found was GDR114BN.. it gives free privacy for all domains on a new/renew order of 3+ domains

if you have long leases on domains but you want to add privacy, this is the way to go. add a single year renewal ($7.50-10) to each domain for 3+ domains and get free privacy for the full leases on all of them. if you have three domains all set to expire in 2019, renew all three for 1 year so they expire in 2020 then add this coupon and get free privacy for all three until 2020, etc.

I would use go daddy, but since all my sites are registered at namecheap, I'll stick with namecheap, even though its like 8$ for a domain.

i just registered my first site ever using namecheap...seems easy enough for me - $8-9 with free whois protection..not too shabby.

is godaddy OK for just registering domains or do they make you jump through hoops to do everything?

It's a pain at first because there are pages and pages of upsells and addons but once you know where to look for the the "take me to checkout" links it's not bad at all. Domain manager is decent as well. Worth getting used to to save a few bucks on every domain purchase/renewal in my opinion.

Note: you need to use a credit card to use it.

Don't know how I feel about adding one to GoDaddy.
