my host automatically renews domains under their name and if you forget, they will resell it back to you. I had one expire 6 months and i got it back, no questions asked.

If you are using a mac you should aquire RAGE Domainer. Its handy for keeping track of expiry dates and also scrapes data from alexa
edit: and it takes like 20 days for a domain name to expire even though godaddy has put up their ad page you can still get the domain name back if it has only been a few days.

I'm letting one expire, kinda feel bad because it is for a foster program... but they've had two years to take ownership of it and could never be bothered to return an e-mail.

Lucky you. I've got some domains that I can't wait to expire because GoDaddy spams me almost every day telling me that it's expiring soon. I wish I could just log in and check a box that says something along the lines of "let the damn thing expire."

Chances are your email is fucked because like others said I get email almost every fucking day from 60 days until it is going to expire all the way up until the day.

As long as you did not let it lapse 30 days or more you should not have to pay the 'extended redemption fee' of $160 which is another gay fee Enom and Godaddy started using the past few years.

If it's only just expired, shouldn't it enter redemption before being dropped?
