I like how much more consistent its performance is compared too all the windohs systems I use/maintain. My 1Ghz ibook > 3Ghz Dell Insprion 9100 > the workstation I'm on now.

I couldn't agree more, I moved from a Dell 2.5ghz to my 12" ibook and never felt like I lost a thing, and I paid 1/3rd the price. this laptop is the single reason I am willing to spend a decent chunk of change on a Dual G5 machine.

I built a superfast PC system a few months ago...dvd burners, 2 gb ram, the works...

    I ran across a 12" g3 ibook 900 mhz with airport and 128 ram...for 175 dollars. DVD-CDRW, 40gig hd...

I upgraded the ram to 640mb for 80 bucks more, and let me tell you, I have not turned on my PC in a few months...haha. I take this thing with me to school, work, etc.

I'm thinking about selling this one and upgrading to a g4 powerbook 15" :)

And with the money I saved I bought an airport express and a 20gb g4 ipod :)

Love this thing to death! Most stable machine I've owned in the pasy 10 years, no shit.

so rapture and i just played with the iChat voice feature -- thats so friggen cool! the voice quality is amazing, and the iBook has a built in Mic so you dont need anything to use it.

My 800mhz ibook with 640meg is a bit fiddly for my development requirements so I will be upgrading to an iMac G5.. But I'm still very impressed by it and it's compact package. In the end, what it comes down to is good software. I used to run eclipse, but the new version chokes up the GUI sometimes. So it was back to BBedit and all's fine. Still, I need a higher rez and a decent keyboard so I don't put myself into RSI hospital.

Yeah. I'm in the market for an ibook as well... Just using a buddies of mine and reading almost every post of how someone likes it just makes me want to buy one. I plan on doing more video editing, the reason i stopped was because my 512 ram and 2500+ computer wasn't up to par ;\ and it wasn't the easiest thing, the conflicts were horrible with my old JVC camera and it was just a hassle to do anything. Hopefully I can find a good deal on the ibook.

I've got an older Powerbook 667 DVI. I love the thing and even it hardly chokes. I'm playing with the idea of getting one of those new G5 iMacs.
