Unfortunately the Cruze isnt world class and i see no reason to buy one over the jap alternatives. GM needs to scale back its operations and get something competitive out in the midsize class...

and if you need a new mid sized car GM, what exactly is wrong with this?

The Open Insignia is a bomb car. I had a good look at one and for the price its right on par with the 3 series from a quality stand point.

I'd definitely say the Volt's better looking than the "Japanese counterparts", if you meant Prius by that.

GM should have been doing this months ago, cars still look like they are gonna suck though, being run by the UAW and all now.

Yeah, now go look at the Prius. They're both cars that look like they're pregnant. Yet I still think the Volt looks better. :dunno:

I honestly think it could sell well if they can find a way to make the plug-in electric work for the average consumer, people are eating this "saving the environment" shit up, it definitely could sell but it could not, especially if we're still in a depression in 2011.

The electricity to charge it probably hurts the environment more then the gas emissions anyway.

Nobody is eating the save the environment shit up, they're eating the "save money on gas" shit up.
People want better fuel economy. Better gas mileage = more money in the pocket.

Nobody gives a shit about the environment.

styling is one thing, but how do these new cars drive and feel? that has been my gripe with GM and Ford. their cars drive like shit, have no road feel, steering is mushy, acceleration and engine performance in general is uninspiring, and so on...

Go test drive some new GM vehicles and Fords... shit's 1,000 times better than they used to be.
Case in point: the new Ford Fusion.

You'll have to drive a shit-ton to actually see the savings after buying a 32,000+ dollar car, and if you're spending 30K+ on a car gas shouldn't be that big of a worry.

And the car is probably gonna be made like shit as well, wanna drive that thing for 5+ years?

Honda has a brand new hybrid that looks JUST like a fucking Prius with a Honda badge... fucking ugly as sin.
The Volt is easily the best looking "hybrid".

As for how well its quality will be... that remains to be seen. The last round of new GM cars have all been had excellent quality, take a look at the new Chevy Malibu. Yeah it's not the best looking car on the outside, save for the front, but inside is a whole different world.

I would like to see the linup be this right now...

    Chevy:
    • Cobalt (Compact)
    • Malibu (Mid-Sized
    • Impala or Chevelle (G8) (Full-Sized)
    • Corvette
    • Camaro (V6 and V8)
    • Volt
    GMC:
    • Colorado
    • Silverado
    • Express
    • SUV (Small, something around Vibeish.)
    • SUV (Large)
    Buick:
    • Enclave
    • Lacrosse
    • Lucerne (Could be replaced with either the Chinese Park Av. or New Lacrosse)
    • Sky
    Caddy:
    • CTS, STS, DTS (Possibly one of these could be discontinued.)
    • Escalade
    • SRX (Don't know if this is worthwhile or not.)
There you have it. A perfect, non-overlapping lineup.
