The majority of the losses were from the UAW, not from their business doing poorly.

 i'll believe it when i see it

they couldn't make a profit for years and years and all of a sudden they're able to as early as this year?

Assuming this is true - that would just show how unbelievably fucked up a company GM was and how its leaders were absolutely fucking useless and just fleecing the shareholders

It's a loan. It is SUPPOSED to work. If it didn't, and they shit away all that money, they would be the worst company in the history of the world. :hsugh:

Didn't a huge part of this bailout have something to do with taking over a lot of the retirement benefits from the UAW? And isn't that not being counted in the payback?

Or is that just some bullshit I heard?

It's so refreshing that OT has so many members like you who have such a firm grasp on corporate bankruptcies.

:werd: They were selling a lot of vehicles, just hard to keep up when you're being bled dry by lazy, entitled unskilled laborers. Move the whole thing to whatever country values the employment I say :wiggle:

You mean the company is restructuring while dissolving several brands and they didn't make a profit!

i dont know shit about economy and business, but i have a question.

isnt it possible to have a loss in a quarter and still make money? i mean they're comparing it with the previous year's quarter, but say, for example, last year you made 5 million this first quarter, and this year you made 4 millions, you had a loss of a million, but you still made 4 millions.

or is this not how it works? cause making 4 millions still doesnt mean all is lost.

Accelerated loan repayment decreases their short or long term debt on the balance sheet and accordingly, the interest expense on the income statement. If they accelerated loan repayment, it would decrease the loss as less interest would accrue on the notes.

more like you made 4 million in revenue but had 5 million in expenses = 1 million lost

i would assume winnings = profit made after you take care of overhead.
