The new hybrid system will be available on the Escalade, Tahoe and Yukon this winter. It is paired with GM's 6.0L V8 with cylinder deactivation. The system was jointly developed by BMW, Chrysler, and GM.

Regular gasoline GM SUVs are rated at 12mpg-14mpg city, nice improvement.

why are the front bumpers so much lower than they used to be? Is that a federal safety mandate or something? It sure makes trucks look less truck-ish. :hsd:

aerodynamics maybe? To improve mileage? That sort of doesn't make sense though.

In PA i think the bumper height has to be less than 28in
I got in trouble once for my jeep bumper being too high.
PA motor vehicle code is fucked up though

Its a big truck with lots of towing power. Its not like this is an econobox. Give them a little credit for taking a step in the right direction.

Aerodynamics. The entire structure was gone through to keep weight and wind resistence down on the hybrid models.

They managed to keep the weight exactly the same as the gasoline model despite the addition of electric motors and battery pack.

just to clear it up, this will be a Cylinder de-activation Hybrid (displacement on demand) and not the Half electric-Half gas Hybrid, right?

The standard gasoline model gets 12-14mpg city. This represents a substantial improvement in fuel consumption for city slickers without sacrificing towing and cargo capacity.
