Man shoots pond, vomits, feels better

FORT WALTON BEACH - An intoxicated man fired his Glock into a pond dozens of times after New Year's Eve before he vomited and started feeling better, neighbors and sheriff's deputies said.

The 28-year-old man, a Navy rescue swimmer, is charged with misdemeanor use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

A neighbor told deputies he heard 20 to 30 gunshots coming from the man's back yard. As he spoke, about eight more shots rang out, according to the arrest report.

When a deputy walked back to investigate, he found the man sitting near the pond with a 21C .45-caliber black Glock pistol lying next to him with two magazines, one empty and one loaded.

The deputy said he smelled alcohol and noticed slurred speech.

Then, "while the defendant was handcuffed and sitting on the ground, he vomited approximately three times, then stated ‘I feel better," the deputy wrote.

At the Shalimar annex, he registered BAC levels of .090 and .093 in breath tests, according to the report.

    ----

seems like the BAC level is pretty low for someone who vomits.

Vomiting won't affect BAC for hours. I've had drunks puke to avoid an intox.

That being said, who boots (and shoots) at a .09?

that was what I meant. seems like his BAC should have been at least twice that to make him yack

My completely non-scientifically based opinion is that rapid absorption of alcohol can make people yack. Some people can't go zero to .2 in 15 minutes ;)

    .2 is high as fuck

.02 is 1 beer for the 95th percentile male.

Slighlty exaggerated numbers perhaps but thats what I'm talking about. It seems to me like plenty of people can gradually get their bac up all night to something pretty high and not get sick as long as they take some time getting there. The person that pounds a few big drinks in a much shorter period seems a bit more likely to vomit even if their bac may be lower. Kind of a too much acceleration on the rollercoaster thing :big grin:

I bet a breathalyzer would be a fun toy.

    I bring mine to parties.
I wouldn't even consider driving at an .08.
At least for me, .08 is pretty fucked up.

Yeah I'd be really curious to see how close where I think I need to not drive is to what would get me arrested.
