I have tru glo tfo sights on my glock. I was cleaning it one day and the rear sight just decides to fall off. There is an allen screw in the middle of the sight but I can pretty easily push it out of the dovetail. It feels like the sight is plastic. Is it time for new sights?

I am happy with the trijicons on my P220. But due to the mostly defensive use of my glock, I am thinking about 24/7 big dots. Any input?

I like the 24/7 big dot for defensive shooting, had them on a couple of my Glock 30's. You have to get used to the "lollipop" rather than aligning 3 dots but the front sight on 24/7's are the easiest and fastest to acquire/see sight I have ever used.

And IIRC the rear sight on the 24/7's has 2 allen screws to help hold it in place.

This is the universe's way of telling you to get some XS Big Dots.

Take a good pistol class with your new sights.

Is the sight broken? Was the set screw in place or loose?

I'm happy with my Glock Big Dots.

huh? You have to rely on them, the set screws and locktite are the only things that hold the XS rear on.

I have big dots on my G30, which is the gun I carry most of the time. Been happy with them, they do take some getting used to though, but nothing some range time can't fix.

    What he said.

Shay, what are your opinions on the standard big dots vs the tritiums vs the 24/7? are they worth the price difference? realistically. the standard non-trits are only 45 dealer price at brownells

Im just saying make sure you locktite them too. Screws wont hold them on alone

The set screws only hold the sight still until the locktite drys. They aren't really supposed to hold the sight. People over torque them and crack the tritium vial in the center of the rear sight. Just snug them until the goo dries and they should be fine.

Do not buy the standard sized dot. If you want a small front sight, get another design of sight. Big dots work well under stress because they are big. Yeah, people will disagree with me.

I like tritium in defense sights and I think XS's low light sight picture is one of the easiest to use under stress. If you are looking to save some coin, I wouldn't do it on sights. Spend what it takes to get the sights that will help you win the gun fight.

Thanks. I wasn't aware that the non-trit front wasn't the "big" dot. :bigok: The pictures Brownell's uses are bad at best.

What about the AK XS sites? Nomad,2nd uses them on his AK and swears by them. I figured I might give them a go.

Alright. Dot school is in session.

They make a "standard dot" that is a smaller dot.

They make a Big Dot without tritium.

They make a Big Dot with Tritium.

Get the Big Dot with Tritium.

I have a set of Big Dots for my AK, but I haven't had the time to install them. I do run a Big Dot front sight on my primary AR though. I'm used to the sight picture from my pistols and have no problems hitting targets at distance with either weapon.

I've never heard of using loctite on the sight - our armorer hasn't either.
    What color do you use?

    I have TFO's as well

XS supplies a small tube of it (it isn't actually locktite brand) with their sights.
