I'm wondering the differences between a Glock 19 and Glock 26. I'm thinking I would prefer to buy a G26 for my first gun and carry weapon because it is smaller, but what are the differences between them. I know they are both 9mm but I don't know what differences there can actually be (gun noob). This is all I could find with a search, so I was hoping for a better explanation of why:

    Well, first off

Accuracy, should be roughly the same if you were to look at the accuracy physically possible, but because the 26 is physically shorter barrel wise, the sights are closer together therefore making it a little bit more difficult to aim, not to mention the smaller grip

Velocity comes from the longer barrel in the 19 (although it is only 1/2 inch difference)

Capacity is a direct results of the magazine, a 19 will take 10, 15, 17 and still fit normally within the gun, the 26 however will only take 10/12 with a normal magazine

the tiny frame, if your hands are big, might discourage you from shooting a whole lot. They are sort of a pain to hold onto, in my experience. The g19 conceals like a champ with a nice holster. Either way you go, you'll be fine. Just try to hold and/or shoot both before your purchase.

also, for range fun, any glock will take a magazine for the larger capacity glocks. IE... g26 takes g19/g17/and the 33rnd glock mags.

ETA: as bigman said, both glocks can outshoot you/me/and most shooters. That is, you won't notice a difference if you do your part. Get what fits your purpose.

    Get the Glock 19.

There's nothing wrong with the 26 (I own several and my wife carries one) but the 19 is a better all-around gun for carry/defense.

Either one will be more accurate than you.
