GUN GLOCK prototype single action trigger finished

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by Whitey McCracken, Apr 30, 2006.

  1. I currently have the first prototype single action GLOCK trigger mech. Fired 15 rounds out of it today without a hitch, two totally different worlds of GLOCK triggers, I will be putting 500 through it this week to see how it holds up, Jeff at TOPGLOCK.com designed them, if you are interested email him directly through TOPGLOCK or call them, they are local in Tempe Arizona, all the factory safeties remain in effect. Here are the specs-

    Stock Configuration 5.75
Stock with Wolff reduced power firing pin spring 5.0
    Glock 3.5 Pound Connector 4.75
Glock 3.5 Pound Connector (G35C) and a Wolff spring 3.375
New York Trigger Spring Olive 7.625
    NYTSO and a WRPFPS 6.250
    G35C and a NYTSO 6.0
    G35C, NYTSO, and a WRPFPS 4.75

    Single action conversion 3.313!!!!

NO pretravel, NO overtravel, reset point shortened, and muuuuch smoother overall

Picture internals, single action G17 on left, stock on right

:dunno: Me either. It's a cool idea, to say the least. Hopefully Whitey McCracken will post a more thorough review once he slings some more lead out of it. :bigthumb:

don't think i'd ever do it, but neat.

  6. i predict a 300% increase in ND's :mamoru:

  7. You never know, the 15 I fired today went perfect, like I said i will dump 500 rounds of cheap win. white box out if it most likely on Monday. The trigger itself is the best of any Glock trigger I have ever felt. There is no travel whatsoever and It breaks at just over 3 lbs. and all the safety features are still there. Follow up shots are perfect and double tap groups are tight. For more info on this new design talk to Jeff at topglock, I think he was saying he'd be charging around 80 bucks installed, which isn't bad for almost perfecting the Glock trigger mechanism.

But I thought teh Glock was perfection!

  9. I've never been a Glock fan, or XD but I have owned both, I prefer Sig or 1911s but that's just me. I can hit a man sized target at 100 meters out of a sig or 1911 every shot, xd and glock probly 10 out of 15 rounds are hits and it was all due to trigger lag/travel, we'll see how I do with this new one, but the break is similar to a true single action, very similar. Truthfully it scared me after the new trigger was installed, just on a count of the pull, because there is none, it's basicly tap the trigger and the weapon fires.

To me that sounds like either a) you slam the trigger, causing the gun to move or b) you just need more experience w/ striker fired weapons... I have no accuracy problems w/ my glocks.

Also, how can this "single action trigger" possibly function and maintain the safeties of a glock? I'd like to see one in person! Interesting idea that might bring more people into the glock corral. I prefer my glock 3.5 lb connector over single action triggers though.

:) so you made a Glock shoot like an XD with a Canyon Creek trigger job. NOW it's perfection.

Not sure the parts name but it probably changes it so that silver metal piece on the back there stays back after each shot so pulling the trigger only releases the striker. Usually when you pull the trigger it slides reward "cocking" the striker and then releases it.

I'd kind of like to feel a glock with the kit.

If that were the case, then this would make Glocks LESS safe, as the risk of AD from dropping the pistol would increase from ZERO to A LOT MORE.

only if the trigger is pulled.

The firing pin block is still in place. That little piece sticking up off the trigger bar on the right is what depresses the block when the trigger is pulled. Looks like the SA one has changed the size/shape of it so it depresses it when the trigger is pulled but doesn't have it depressed when the gun is cocked.

I too am curious how the Glock now cocks itself if the trigger is now single action.

  19. Yeah I don't get that. If it doesn't there have been 3.5# glocks for awhile now...

What does the internal drop safety do you mentioned (the little ramp)? Wouldn't the drop safety be the block the prevents the firing pin from moving fully forward when dropped? If so, then that appears to be located in the slide.

The reset is really the only thing I dislike about my XD. Whenever I decide to buy a new handgun this is going to get the trigger worked. I just dont want to be without my HD weapon.

:wtf: last time I was shooting both glock and xd in the same outing, the xd has a shorter and smoother pull every time.
