Do any of you guys have first hand experiance with the glock G.A.P. 45 caliber. I have been kicking around the idea of getting one, but I just dont have enough research yet.

Glock has many other 'better' models.

Just cuz its decent doesn't mean it'll ever gain a foothold. Its a niche caliber.
And most 45 buffs won't sway from ACP... old traditions die hard.

You can get 1120fps out of 230 with 10mm.

LOL, of course. The answer for everything is 10mm.

Actually, I wish it was more popular, to be honest.

I don't want a gun that shoots obscure ammo that's expensive and hard to find.

I reload or what ammo I do buy I get online, but most decent shops here stock 10, just can't get it at wally world or dicks.

.45GAP was the result of complaints that Glock's .45ACP pistols had grips too large for smaller hands (Gripping the G21 has jokingly been compared to gripping a 2x4). Rather than taking the obvious route of carving some meat off of the spacious G21 backstrap, Glock instead commissioned a shortened .45ACP cartridge that was roughly equivalent to .45ACP in terms of bullet weights and velocities.

Given that .45GAP has yet to catch fire like .40S&W and that other manufacturers have found ways to reduce the grip cross-section of their double-stack .45ACP handguns, Glock has returned to the obvious approach with their G21 SF. If the 21SF is anything like Springfield Armory's new XD-45, the difference between the G21 SF's grip and any other full-size Glock will be negligible.

.45GAP will probably endure for some time to come simply because it has a significant userbase (law enforcement seems to be keeping it afloat) in spite of its high cost thanks to the failure of the market to embrace it. It looks to be relegated to shrinking niche status for the rest of its days simply because its main selling point is parity performance with .45ACP in a slightly smaller package. Other niche cartridges offer more than just parity with similar cartridges.

If I were buying a handgun, I would go with the already-costly .45ACP over the even more expensive .45GAP simply because it's chambered by hundreds of models of gun from dozens of manufacturers, because it's been around for so long, and because it's known to be effective.

I haven't had any personal experience with a GAP, but like people have said here, thee ammo is more expensive and harder to find (I've never seen a box of WWB GAP at walmart) plus the future of the GAP is questionable and it may get harder to get.

I talked to a guy who bought a .45 GAP and had no idea there was a difference, he was pissed it costs so much to shoot and ammo is so hard to find

  17. I'd take the ACP over the GAP. The GAP is a neat idea, but it's unlikely to ever catch on.

That being said, I'll agree that the 10MM is the answer for pretty much anything.
