A local gun shop has a consignment glock in 45 gap I think it's a model 38 for 200 otd after taxes and background check and that gun proficiency test since this is my first hand gun. My question for those in the know is would it be possible to buy a replacement barrel and convert it to something more useful like 40 s&w or even if possible 9mm. I know I will need a new barrel but what else would I need to do and can it be dun and keep the gun cheaper than a brand new gun? I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with 45 gap but there doesn't seem to be much ammo out there. Anyone with info thanks for you advice in advance.

.45GAP Glocks can normally be had WAY cheaper than other models, like I've seen them brand new from a dealer for like $359. This leads me to believe that any conversion if possible would probably be prohibitively expensive, although I could be totally wrong as I haven't done the research.

I'd suck it up and save up another $200 or whatever and get a used G19....

I've never heard of a conversion barrel for the 37/38/39 guns. A quick google search didn't return anything either. I'd just wait until the right gun (a G19 of course) shows up and then grab it.

    don't buy it.

you'll never find ammo and you'll never be able to sell it once you realize you bought a paperweight.

That's why there is so little in the way of used guns, those who have them don't want to give them up.

Honestly for 200 bucks I'd get it, even if it is more likely to remain an oddity than a common caliber. You can find ammo easily enough online, gap is just as powerful as acp and supposedly they shoot really nice.

Cali has laws on the way that is going to ban online ammo sales, so he will be stuck with local purchases only.
