went to the range today with a friend's g23. PE complained that the grip just felt a little too big for her. truthfully, i've seen her shoot better so i believe it was a factor. the guys at the range were saying to maybe try out a beretta px4 rental next time. WMD's thoughts?

For people with smaller hands or women I recommend the CZ 75sa

It's probably the most ergonomic grip. Fairly thin for a double stack mag gun and the contor is such that it points naturally.

You can also have a grip reduction done on the grip. The finger notches can be wacked off flat, and the rear hump flatteded quite a bit too. The grip can be slimmed so she can reach the mag button easier. It's hard to tell in the picture but this grip has had a full grip reduction and then aluminum oxide finish. It is not grip tape, and it's permement.

Also worth trying out 1911's, sig p239 and in general any other single stack gun you can get your hands on.

The correct answer is; find a range that rents guns and have her try a few.

Try one of the compact CZ's. P-01/P-06/PCR. They are similar in class to a G19 (sizewise), but generally more ergonomic for more people (including myself).

P99 is a good choice, as well as maybe a Kahr.

i was going to suggest a p-01 too, i dont have long fingers so a large grip didn't suit me too well, the p-01 was a good fit

USPc is on the pricey side but fits smaller hands.

The CORRECT answer is that her hands are probably not too small. That is highly unlikely. More likely is that her grip is incorrect. I'll throw this video out again, because some people still have not seen it. It's an 11-year-old girl, at a fighting pistol course. She weighed 75 lbs. at the time of the class. She is doing everything correctly, safely, and shooting fairly well. The pistol is not malfunctioning, there are dummy rounds being used. This video shows that just about ANYONE can use a G19/23, if they're using it properly.
